Prayer that Works

...The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 15:16

Now continuing with our theme on Elijah (James 15:17) James the Apostle says in verse 16 that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man can achieve a lot. Then he continues in verse 17 to illustrate how Elijah's prayers were answered by God, though he was one man, and human like us.

Many of us are probably wondering whether we qualify as righteous. Listen to what God's word says about that:

Know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. Galatians 2:16

Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God
  John 1:12

If we are in Christ, we are justified, made righteous, and have become children of God. So we can boldly and confidently pray, knowing He hears us.

Your Prayers will make a Difference

You're probably wondering whether prayer makes a difference in the grand and numerous affairs of an entire nation. Or whether your prayers would make a single difference in the state of affairs, bring positive change and propel us to a prosperous, happy and God fearing nation. Well listen to what the Bible has to say about that:

"Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years." (James 5:17)

Elijah the Old Testament Prophet had prophesied to the King of Israel (Ahab) that it would not rain for a few years in the land because of the sins propagated by the King and the people of the land. The prophesy came true, until Elijah prayed again, and God brought rain again in Israel.

The point is, Elijah was a human being just like us, yet God honoured his prayers.

You too can make a difference in the land.

We are standing in the Gap

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one."
 (Ezekiel 22:30)

In the days of Ezekiel the Prophet of the Old Testament, when God looked for someone to pray and 'stand in the gap' for the children of Israel, there was none. Captivity, destruction and oppression was the result.

Today God is calling you and I to pray and stand in the gap for Kenya, and we have said YES! We shall stand in the gap, therefore we shall be blessed and favoured, not destroyed.

Pray for Everyone

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness."       (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Dear friend,

God desires that we pray for everyone, including our leaders, so that as a country we may be able to go about our private and public business in peace, in security, uninterrupted, and all that in a godly way. So let us pray pray pray, pray for ourselves, our families, our country men, our leaders.

And so God now we pray that you may give wisdom and protection to our leaders to lead this nation in the way of peace, security, prosperity and righteousness. Amen
